HTGAWM Star Viola David Renews Vows

Actress Viola Davis renewed her vows among her celebrity friends and family over the Valentine's weekend (13-14Feb16) in California. The Help star tied the knot with husband Julius Tennon in June, 2003, and in honour of their upcoming 13th wedding anniversary, the couple renewed its vows on Saturday (13Feb16) at the Hotel Casa del Mar in Santa Monica. Oprah Winfrey and her longtime partner Stedman Graham, dancer and actress Debbie Allen, Phylicia Rashad, Aisha Tyler, and Octavia Spencer were among the guests. The celebration kicked off with Davis' How to Get Away With Murder co-star Alfred Enoch reading a monologue, followed by their guests joining them for their first dance to Pharrell Williams' Happy. Following the ceremony, Davis took to Instagram.com, and posted a quote from poet John Updike, which read: "We are most alive when we're in love." Davis recently spoke about her desire to stage a second wedding ceremony because her first big day wasn't a classy affair. "I'm going for a communal vibe," she told late night host James Corden on Wednesday (10Feb16). "I'm going for an atmosphere that is just loose... "We're going to have a speciality drink that everyone is going to drink," she adds. "We call it JuVi juice, it's mango juice and tequila, and that's a play on me and my husband's name, Julius and Viola." "It kind of sounds very ghetto, but it's going to be very classy. Everybody's going to be dressed in white, we're going to have white floors, white flowers. My first wedding, so many people came... I want a little bit of class this time." It was a big wedding weekend for Oprah, who also attended Jimmy Iovine's post-ceremony bash at David Geffen's home on Sunday (14Feb16).
